Livi Interviews The Family!
Author: Livi Bronzan (10)
The Ljubljana Castle was much different than I thought. It was a castle but served as a fortress too. Then When Austria was in control of Slovenia it was turned into a prison. All of the furnishings were thrown out. What a shame!
I learned a lot of history of Ljubljana and Slovenia during our visit to the castle. We decided to go on the guided tour with different actors and actresses telling us the history of the castle. That was very cool. My favorite was the knight who killed the dragon. They explained why dragons were the symbols of the city.
We also saw a well that was thousands of years old. However, in the 18th century, they created a human wheel that prisoners had to walk blindfolded to haul the 10 gallon buckets of water up.
It appeared that they had a lot of information on how prisoners were kept in the castle. Prisoners who were peasants were kept in the "open air" cells. They were literally put in a pit, 20 to 30 men per pit, where they were exposed to all the weather elements, sun, rain, wind, etc. If that wasn't bad enough, they were chained to the wall. No prisoner was sentenced for more than 10 years in those cells, but it was thought that if you were put in the "pit", you would not come out alive. What terrible a thought! Some of them were placed in prison simply for saying the king was terrible.
The castle was fascinating and a good way to start our stay in Slovenia.
Our final interview is with Olivia Bronzan...
I really enjoyed the castle, what was cool was that I know nothing about that place so it was cool learning about the history. My favorite part was probably the tour I really likes how everybody dressed up. (Do not think I am copying I had this written before everyone else.) Anyway, I also really liked the puppet museum. There was this creepy face that the mouth would move if you pulled a string. Very big heads can be very creepy sometimes. We went to the looking tower too and saw 2/3 of Slovenia. The stairs made me feel dizzy because they went in a circle and if you looked down you would see a big hole with stairs around the edges. Unlike the others my favorite actor was the prisoner. The only reason she was put in jail was because she said a bad thing about the governor.

Well the interviewing is over so.......

Livi Out!!

Livi, This is a wonderful blog with typed and video taped additions. I do think that the best way to remember history is to see it and be a part of it and the tour with actors provided that. Thank you.
