Barcelona is a very big, very busy city.  We are staying in the middle of many, many alleyways that basically all look the same.  I was a little nervous about adventuring out to go running on my own, especially considering my recent track record.  After spending a few days here I thought I would give it a try.  I thought about following Lisa's advice and dropping breadcrumbs along the way for me, but decided that might not be the best course of action.

I went running early because I was hoping to escape the crowds.  When I first got out there, La Rambla was pretty clear, with shops just opening up.  I went down to the water (turn left at the big Christopher Columbus statue, seriously, it's HUGE!) and ran where the really, really big expensive boats were.  It was a very peaceful run down there.  By the time I got back up to La Rambla, it was already very crowded.




We did not make it to the library in San Sebastian, which I was a little disappointed about.  I told Brandon we were not going to the Barcelona Stadium until we got to the library.  The first night we were here we ran right into a library during our wandering.  It was very nice.  Not as impressive as Liverpool's library, but nice.  I loved the ceiling.  I also loved that they had these huge chess pieces in the courtyard.  I want those for Windsor.  




That's it for now.  Despite what Luke says about the Picasso Museum, one day he will thank me for taking him.  It was awesome, both the artwork and the actual building.  (See Brandon's post!)

It's hard to believe, but we're just two days away from our flight.  I had planned to pop in and update everyone on our progress.  Yeah, that didn't really happen. Livi has assured me that once the trip starts, she is going to take the torch as the main voice of Bronzans on the Loose.  I assume that will mainly be on Instagram, but hopefully I can get her to pop in here from time to time.   A few weeks ago, an American who has lived in Granada for several years arranged for a gathering at a local coffee shop for new and “old” expats to come together and meet one another.  They do this every year to welcome new families to the city.   One woman, who has been living here for eight years, told me that families come in like waves on the beach.  Every fall a wave of new expats comes crashing in.  A year later it pulls back and while a few stay, most return to the lives they left behind. At this coffee meeting, I met a man who likes to mountain bike in Granada.  He gave me some tips about the local trails.   I explained that I had run to the end of the Camino del Sacromonte, where the pavement stops and the road becomes gravel.   I have been intrigued by this path and asked him if he had ever gone further than I had.  I’d thought about venturing on alone, but I wasn’t sure if it was a public or private road. A Friday morning update from London Town

Author:  Brandon (Dad) The plan was to slow down a bit after a busy few days in London, but that really hasn't happened.  Since our Liverpool trip, we have: Traveled by train to Windsor & Eton, touring beautiful Windsor Castle and sampling a variety of pubs. Toured the Tower of London. Visited Lindsey's school in Belsize Park.  (Extremely impressive.  I think Livi wants to go there.) Experienced Chinatown (Luke's request.  Kid loves Chinatowns.) Ridden a double decker bus.  (The kids were way more excited about this than I thought possible.) Luke included a bunch of photos in his recent blog post, but here's a blind man thrilling the crowd on an organ in Chinatown.   One more full day in London and we're not 100% decided on what we'll do.  Think we'll head out to Richmond and see what that's all about.  Though I look forward to the next leg of our journey, I'll miss London.  The two times I've been here ha...
