I went running and.....

I went running and got lost!  I had a great little route planned out...it went according to plan until I decided to go just a little bit further to reach 6 miles.  I somehow got completely turned around and couldn't find my way back.  After walking and trying to figure out where the heck I was for about 45 minutes I asked another runner for help.

I asked "Do you know the green bridge?"  He looked at me with complete confusion...oh no, this isn't going well.   I decided to try for a different question.  "I'm pretty sure I'm staying in the old town, can you tell me how to get back there?"  He decided to run me there because he knew he couldn't trust me to find it on my own.

After running for a little bit, he said "you are a good runner, how fast do you normally run?"  I took that as a compliment, because he looked like a great runner too.  However, I only knew my normal pace in miles, he knew his in kilometers, so that didn't work out so well.

I was panicked because I was gone for a long time and I thought Brandon would be really worried about me.  I got back to find the kids still in bed and Brandon happily drinking coffee on the patio, not worried at all.

I'm calling this run "in honor of Lisa" for three reasons:

  1. Lisa always likes to stop and take pictures and we wouldn't be able to go very far here without her pulling out her camera, so I took some in honor of her.  (The picture doesn't do this run justice.  It was drizzling, so I will try again tomorrow.)
  2. I got lost.
  3. Lisa is running another half marathon today in the States, so I was thinking about her on my run.

My run said 5.5 miles, but I did 8.5 in the end because I got lost, walked around town and ran back to the "green bridge" (I will take a picture later and post on Instagram).  I really enjoyed seeing so many runners (mostly male runners) running the same route as I was doing (until I got lost and didn't see any other runners for a long time...)  Most of them wore different race shirts, it was great to see all the different running shirts from different locations around the world.  I was proud to wear my "The Ridge" shirt from my race last August in San Francisco.

I wished I could describe this area better.  The buildings are incredible, you just don't see anything like it in the United States.  I want to take a picture of everything.  They have statues everywhere and I want to take pictures of them all.  However, it got me thinking, the locals probably don't even see the statues anymore, just how we locals ignore "The Cheese" when driving by Keiser Park.

My little heart was so proud of Olivia last night for ordering everything in Spanish at dinner.  Luke was so worn out last night, it took everything in him to just get through dinner.  I'm sure he will try out Spanish today.

Happy Father's Day to the best day I know...Brandon!  Thank you for convincing me over and over again that we needed to do this.

  1. Tiffany, I shared your getting lost story with a good friend today. She is also a runner and runs every day. Her son works for Delta Airlines, so she and her husband travel all around the world...on standby. She said that she has gotten lost several times.
